This Saturday marks the start of the Minnesota Rollergirls season. They failed to prevail in September's Brawl of America Regional Championships, ranking a miserable 9th (in the end Chicago beat out Madison for a slot at nationals). But everyone loves a good comeback story, right? Hopefully this game will mark a new era of kicking ass.

As usual, the game will take place at Roy Wilkins Auditorium in St. Paul. The doors are at 6:30 p.m. with the bout starting at 7:30 p.m. The league-mixer theme battle will be Angels vs. Devils, with the main game featuring the Minnesota Rollergirl All-Stars versus the Carolina Rollergirls. Tickets are $13 at the door, with kids nine and under free.

As usual, there will be non-sport shenanigans throughout the evening as well. Martial artists from Kuk Sool Wan will kick things off with a pre-game performance while garage rockers Strut & Shock play halftime. If you are 21 or older, after the game head on over to Station 4 (201 E. 4th St., St. Paul), where you can drink PBR with the athletes and sing some karaoke.

The North Star Rollergirls (who placed 5th at the Brawl) play next Saturday at the Minneapolis Convention Center. Check out their schedule at www.northstarrollergirls.com.
