Pawlenty comes up woefully short in presidential poll

Bad news for T-Paw: only five percent of self-identified conservatives favor him for the party's nomination, according to a CNN presidential poll. Our governor was bested by the sordid likes of Mike Huckabee (the favorite, at 32 percent), followed by Sarah Palin (25 percent) and Mitt Romney (21 percent).

It's not as though the polled conservatives disapprove of Pawlenty; it's just that a lot of GOPers outside the Upper Midwest don't know who the hell he is-- 72 percent of those polled either hadn't heard of him or had no opinion of him one way or the other. Look for the Republican base to warm up to him as his national profile rises.
