It's undeniable that the U.S. depends on oil: We're willing to wait in line for it, we panic when the price for gas is too high, and we're even willing to go to war for it. Tonight, Solutions Twin Cities will explore this dynamic with a series of interactive talks, games, and activities. Need a drink? Yeah, they'll have that too.

The evening features four interactive lectures on the subject of oil.

The first talk, "Oil Science Theater" will include a screening of oil-promo films from the 1950s. Are they hilarious? Or do they hit a little too close to home? Ah, the honeymoon phase is always the sweetest.

The second talk will feature videos of famous people driving cars from movies and documentaries, and will debate how we subconsciously link the vehicles we drive with our identity.

The third talk connects oil with the American identity and way of life, from how we view freedom to thousands of gas stations that speckle our daily landscape, and the final talk contemplates a world we where don't guzzle gas like high fructose corn syrup.

The evening will also include games, audience participation, and open discussions on our past, present, and future with oil. Beer and wine will be available for purchase.

The evening runs from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. this Thursday at Intermedia Arts (2822 Lyndale Ave. S., Minneapolis). The event is free. For more info, visit solutionstwincities.org/event.htm.
