The cat's been out of the bag for a while that former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin will be signing copies of her new memoir, "Going Rogue," Dec. 7 at the Mall of America. Now we know when: Noon on Dec. 7, according to the Barnes and Noble Web site:

Want a shot in front of the Republican right's poster girl? You'll need a wristband. And to get that, you'll need to show up at the store with a Barnes and Noble receipt for having purchased a copy of the book. First come, first served starting at 7 a.m. the day of the signing.

Palin launched a Twitter page (above) that she said she would update during the cook your. No posts there yet, although she does have more 16,000 followers. She has also been keeping an active Facebook page lately, and her posts sound every bit as combative as her stump speeches last year when she helped John McCain lose the presidential race to Barack Obama.

Amazingly, but not surprisingly, the AP somehow nabbed a copy of the book before it was released. They're now erroneously reporting on the book's contents and are repeating many of the same things they spewed during the campaign and afterwards. We've heard 11 writers are engaged in this opposition research, er, "fact checking" research! Imagine that - 11 AP reporters dedicating time and resources to tearing up the book, instead of using the time and resources to "fact check" what's going on with Sheik Mohammed's trial, Pelosi's health care takeover costs, Hasan's associations, etc. Amazing.
Opposition research? Sounds like a page from Richard Nixon's playbook.

Meanwhile, Minnesota's very own Power Line Blog is treating Palin like a damsel in distress, ripping into not just the AP, but the usual lineup of news media suspects -- The New York Times, The Washington Post -- for having the temerity to wonder whether Palin's tome should be listed as fiction or non-fiction.

Love her or hate her, Palin seems more than capable of defending herself.
