Barb Johnson campaign expense hearing set for January
Minneapolis City Council President Barb Johnson will be before a judge on Jan. 26, defending her decision to use campaign money for haircuts, dry-cleaning, her cell phone, and a line at her lake house.
Warren Kaari, the former history teacher who filed a complaint against Johnson, spoke with the administrative law judge and Johnson's attorney yesterday in a conference call and confirmed the hearing date. Kaari filed the complaint based on a pre-election City Pages story on Johnson's campaign expenditures over the past four years.
Kaari has been deeply unimpressed with Johnson's use of campaign money, and has even lobbied the current City Council members not to elect her council president for the upcoming year. "I said you should question this lady's honesty before you vote for her as council president," Kaari says.
