In case you hadn't noticed, it's snowing in the Twin Cities this morning, and the roads are a mess. Minneapolis has declared a Snow Emergency and parking restrictions begin at 9 p.m. tonight.

The State Patrol says there have been more than 400 car crashes attributed to the storm moving through the state, about 300 of them in the metropolitan area. The National Weather Service says about 6-12 inches of snow could be on the ground in our area before the skies clear this afternoon. And then comes good news for pond hockey players and folks getting ready for ice fishing. Today's high will be near 8 degrees with 20-30 mph winds blowing down out of Canada. Tonight's low will hit -5 degrees. And so forth. Yes, winter has returned. And we couldn't have timed it better. Check out this week's City Pages cover story.
