Man arrested at Mall of America for throwing tomatoes at Palin

Jeremy Paul Olson, 33, has been identified by Bloomington police as the man they arrested on assault and disorderly conduct charges Monday for throwing tomatoes at Sarah Palin during her book signing event at the Mall of America.

It wasn't the only glitch of the day for Palin. One of the attendees brought a copy of the Nov. 18 issue of City Pages, in which we parodied Palin's book cover, subbing in Michele Bachmann for the former VP candidate and changing the title to "Going Crazy." Our slideshow captures the moment here.

Police said they think Olson also goes by the name of Jeremiah Wobbe, WCCO reported. News reports first suggested he threw one tomato from a position on the second floor balcony. But KSTP-TV later reported that he threw two. Either way, his aim was off, missing Palin, and her husband, Todd, in the mall's Rotunda by about 10 feet.

The crowd of about 1,000 Palinistas was smaller than the anticipated 2,500 for the event, but they were dedicated: Some were on line at 5 a.m. to get a coveted wrist band allowing them to see their idol and have her sign a copy of "Going Rogue."
