P2P users screwed by Comcast win $16 back

​If you are a Comcast Internet subscriber who was screwed over when you tried to use a peer-to-peer application, you might have won a little Christmas miracle. Comcast finally agreed to pay up to $16 million to settle a class-action lawsuit that alleged the company slowed Internet speeds when subscribers used some types of file sharing programs. Of course they aren't admitting any wrongdoing, but will shell out the money anyway.

Want to get $16 for your pain and suffering? Here is how you qualify:

• You live in the United States or its territories.
• You have a current or former Comcast high-speed Internet account
• You used or tried to use Ares, BitTorrent, eDonkey, FastTrack or Gnutella P2P protocols at any time from April 1, 2006 to December 31, 2008
• AND/OR You tried to send emails using Lotus Notes any time from March 26, 2007 to October 3, 2007.
