You and your fellow Twin Citians are some of the most literate people in America, according to the latest national ranking. Minneapolis came in third in the annual study of well-read populations, while St. Paul was No. 7. The ranking is determined by statistics from six broad categories, including data such as the number of bookstores and libraries per capita, the number of books ordered online, newspaper circulation and web hits, and the education level of residents.
Minneapolis's admirable third-place finish is actually a drop from the last few years. The city has alternated with Seattle for first or second place since 2005, but this year it was supplanted by upstart Washington, D.C., according to the study from Central Connecticut State University. That sounds like a challenge, so don't just sit there--read something!
