Ventura's waterboard jab at Cheney gets listed in Yale anthology
Former Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura recently told us that the U.S. government has lied so often about so many things in his lifetime that he no longer believes anything it says -- including about how the country was led into the war in Iraq. So when former vice president Dick Cheney asserted that torturing the alleged 9/11 mastermind by waterboarding him more than 180 times had yielded trustworthy information, it can hardly surprise anyone that Ventura called bullshit.
On May 11, he went on Larry King's CNN gabfest and growled, "You give me a water board, Dick Cheney and one hour, and I'll have him confess to the Sharon Tate murders."
That line has now been named as No. 10 in the Yale Book of Quotations' Top 10 quotes of 2009. The rest of the list is here.
