When a video clip of St. Paul couple Jill Peterson and Kevin Heinz's boogie-down-the-aisle moment struck YouTube gold over the summer, the pair turned their
wedding dance fame into an effort to help raise money for the
Sheila Wellstone Institute. Thousands of dollars
poured in.
The site's editors draw up a list of nominees every year and then asks readers to vote for a winner.
Among those on the list this year:
- Capt. Chesley "Sully" Sullenberger, who safely crash-landed his passenger jet into New York's Hudson River after a bird strike knocked out its engines.
- Kaleb Eulls, a star high school football layer in Mississippi, who forcefully but safely disarmed an opistol-waving girl on a school bus.
- Actor Michael J. Fox, who has used his long battle with Parkinson's Disease to help raise more than $154 million to help researchers find a cure for the disease.
The list is pretty impressive, but of course we have a soft spot for the hometown couple. Check out the video one more time. We defy you not to break out in a smile.
