Brock Lesnar could be out for all of 2010 UPDATED
Hopes for Brock Lesnar's speedy return to the Octagon in 2010 seem to be lost, as the heavyweight champion recently posted an update on his (unofficial) Facebook page pointing to continued medical problems.
NEW UPDATE!! Brock has had more problems (we can't say what they are) and he could be out all of this year if things don't get better. Brock wants to thank all of his fans for their support and for the nice messages so thanks guys.
The UFC is expected to make an announcement about Brock's future this week, and all indications now point to him being sidelined.
UPDATE: UFC President Dana White is now "no commenting," which can't be a good sign.
UFC President Dana White, when reached via text, said he could not comment on anything regarding the champion's health and re-evaluation.
"Brock asked me not to talk about it," he said. "I have to respect that."
When asked if he could make any statement at all about Lesnar, White was again uncharacteristically silent.
"No comment," he said. "First time in nine years I have ever said that."
Diverticulitis occurs when one or more diverticula in your digestive tract become inflamed or infected. Diverticula are small, bulging pouches that can form anywhere in your digestive system, including your esophagus, stomach and small intestine. However, they're most commonly found in the large intestine.
Diverticula are common, especially after age 40. When you have diverticula, the condition is known as diverticulosis. You may never even know you have these pouches because they seldom cause any problems, such as diverticulitis.
Sometimes, however, diverticulitis occurs, causing severe abdominal pain, fever, nausea and a marked change in your bowel habits. Mild cases of diverticulitis can be treated with rest, changes in your diet and antibiotics. But serious cases of diverticulitis may require surgery.
Brock will most likely forfeit the belt, and it will be fought for by Frank Mir and Shane Carwin, whom Lesnar was originally scheduled to face before pulling out due to illness. If Brock can get healthy, we could see him return to fight for the belt again in 2011, assuming this doesn't end his mixed martial arts career.
