Authorities have finally caught up with the diabolical Forest Lake nail-thrower.

The villainous nail-thrower began littering Highway 97 with handfuls of two-inch carpentry nails about a month ago. The influx in flat tires quickly led the community to deduce that the recurring piles of mislaid nails were no coincidence.

It turns out that the culprit is an ex-boyfriend of someone from the neighborhood and was apparently trying to get even for the breakup, according to KSTP.

Nice plan.

From KSTP:

A break came in the case a few days ago when a pick-up truck drove past and then moment later, new nails were found. When they questioned the truck's owner, he confessed, police said.

"He was very apologetic after he admitted to throwing the screws and the nails out on the highway," Sgt. Rick Peterson said.
