A 25-year-old woman was given from one abusive boyfriend to another, she told an emergency room doctor at Regions Hospital in St. Paul, the Strib reports. The first abusive boyfriend battered her so badly she suffered traumatic brain injury, according to the story. The second kept her sequestered in an apartment for six months and didn't let her talk to anyone except his three-year-old niece. The second boyfriend, 33-year-old Julius Antwon Coleman, was charged in Ramsey Court with two counts of second-degree assault, one of third-degree assault, and one of criminal abuse of a vulnerable adult. Here's more from the Strib:
The woman told doctors she had been "given to" Coleman by the previous boyfriend and that he had not allowed her to leave the house for six months and that when he left, he took her shoes and jacket and locked her in a bedroom. The woman told the doctor that the burns on her stomach were so bad that Coleman took her to a pharmacy on Jan. 28, three days afterward. Coleman stayed in the car because of his outstanding warrants. Once she was inside the store, she screamed and called for help, she said.
