Jenny Potter scores hattrick in U.S. hockey team's 12-1 thrashing of China

Edina native Jenny Potter, making her fourth appearance at the winter Olympics, put away three goals during the U.S. women's team's 12-1 rout of the Chinese in a preliminary match on Sunday. 
Former Gopher skaters played big roles in the victory as well. Jocelyne Lamoureux scored, Monique Lamoureux notched four assists -- a record -- and Gigi Marvin set up two goals.
"I think we did a good job playing our game, but at the same time keeping sportsmanship in mind," said U.S. captain Natalie Darwitz, a Gophers women's hockey assistant from Eagan, who had a goal and two assists. "I think you saw us pull back and cycle the puck a bit instead of shooting every time, but you don't want to get into bad habits, either.
