Al Franken taps SNL's Seth Meyers for Minneapolis fundraising gig

Yep, he's lightening up. Sen. Al Franken. a "Saturday Night Live" alumni, has announced that current SNL mainstay Seth Meyers will appear with him this weekend at a Minneapolis fundraiser.

The event, at the Carlyle condominiums, will benefit Franken's Midwest Values Political Action Committee. Tickets are $50.

Through MVP, Franken has contributed in the past to national Democratic Party organizations, Minnesota U.S. Senate candidate Amy Klobuchar, and U.S. House candidates Coleen Rowley, Tim Walz, and Patty Wetterling. So far in the 2010 election cycle, MVP has raised $525,981 and spent $391,663. In 2006, before he ran for the Senate, Franken used MVP to raise $1.2 million.
