Darcy Pohland Day declared by R.T. Rybak in honor of the late WCCO reporter

Darcy Pohland, the WCCO TV reporter who died in her sleep last week, had a lot of fans around the Twin Cities. So perhaps it's no surprise that Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak has issued an official proclamation making today Darcy Pohland Day. There was also a memorial service for her today at the Guthrie Theater.

Minneapolis Mayor R.T. Rybak has declared Friday, March 12, Darcy Pohland Day, in honor of long-time Twin Cities TV reporter Darcy Pohland, who passed away Friday, March 5.

In her work at WCCO TV, Pohland covered news and events around town since August 1994. A graduate of the University of Minnesota, she was a major supporter of Gopher athletics.

There will be a public memorial service for Darcy Pohland, Friday, March 12, in downtown Minneapolis. It will be held at 10 a.m. at the Guthrie Theater, 818 S. 2nd St. Memorials are preferred to be sent to animal rescue organizations and to Courage Center, or a charity of choice.
