Michael Crisafulli, 13, not competent to stand trial in father's murder
Michael Crisafulli is 13 years old. He has austism. And on Jan. 19, under a "balloon of anger," he took a gun from a cabinet in his Delton, Wis., home and shot and killed his father as the 55-year-old man relaxed in a recliner.![]()
Sauk County Judge Guy Reynolds has now ruled that Crisafulli, charged with first-degree intentional homicide, is not competent to stand trial for his father's murder. That doesn't mean he can't be charged in the future, but for now, Reynolds wants the boy sent for mental health treatment.
From the Baraboo News Republic:
During an interview with an investigator, the complaint states Michael Crisafulli said his father had been very angry with him that day after he had been expelled from school. At the home they shared, Michael Crisafulli said he took a gun from is father's gun cabinet because a "balloon of anger" within him had broken, according to the complaint. As his father lay back in a recliner Michael told the officer he shot his father once.
