KSTP-TV is reporting that the programing director of radio station KSTP-AM, Steven J. Konrad, was critically injured Thursday afternoon when his motorcycle struck a mattress lying in the eastbound lane of Interstate 94 in St. Paul.

The accident happened near the Western Avenue exit, according to the State Patrol. The 46-year-old Woodbury man, who was wearing a helmet, crashed into the mattress after an SUV in front of him swerved to avoid it at the last minute.
