State Patrol Lt. Eric Roeske said a Department of Transportation worker found a body between the guard rail and sound wall of I-394 between the Dunwoody Boulevard and Penn Avenue exits at about 11 a.m.

The DOT worker called State Patrol and an ambulance was dispatched, but was quickly called back by a trooper at the scene who said the body, which appeared to be that of an adult female, had been there for an extended period of time.

At that point, the Minneapolis Police Homicide Unit picked up the investigation, Sgt. Bill Palmer said. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the victim's identification and the cause of death.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Sgt. Folkens from the Minneapolis Police Homicide Unit at 612-673-3410.
