The Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board voted earlier this year to start a search for a new superintendent. Now the Park Board is now asking for the public's input as it begins the official search process.

Superintendent Jon Gurban's contract ends June 30. We wrote about Gurban and his controversial tenure last month. Check out the story here.

If you've got an idea of what you want out of the park's next leader, there are several ways to have your voice heard.

Check out your options below.

  • Minneapolis residents can complete a survey through April 28. You can do so online, at one of the 49 recreation centers, or have the survey mailed to your home. Contact MPRB for more information at 612-230-6400. Surveys will be available in Spanish, Somali and Hmong by April 16.
  • There will also be public input session during two regularly scheduled Board meetings. Those sessions will be on April 21 and May 5 (both Wednesdays) at MPRB headquarters, 2117 West River Road.
  • You can also call a 24-hour phone line until April 28 and leave your comments through voicemail. The number is 612-230-6591.
