Sarah Palin selling someone else's snake-oil this time
Not so the former half-term Governor, who will appear again in Minneapolis May 26 as part of the Get Motivated! business seminar. Along with other GOP luminaries like Rudy Giuliani, Steve Forbes, and former Secretary of State Colin Powell, Palin will be offering tips on "how to overcome obstacles with creative solutions" and "how to become a person of influence."
Accounts from people who have attended the seminar in other cities make it sound like a scam. They report that sandwiched between Palin, Giuliani and the other speakers are presentations from charismatic infomercial-style salesmen pitching expensive, questionable products at their captive audience. The Get Motivated! site doesn't make any mention of speakers other than the celebrity draws, and their office didn't return phone calls today.
The Get Motivated! seminar, barnstorming through half a dozen other cities before landing in Minneapolis next month, is the brainchild of inspirational speaker and author Tamara Lowe. Lowe, who wrote a best-selling motivational book of the same name, mixes feel-good fast-talk with Christian poetry-slam stylings and a truly inspirational hair-style.
Tickets at the door will cost $225, but if you act now, you can have one for the low low price of $4.95. A quick caution for Sarah fans out there, however: the fine print of the Get Motivated! event announcement says Palin may wind up appearing in Minneapolis "live via satellite." We're sure the sight of her beaming mug looming over attendees on jumbotrons will still be very motivational.
