Turns out Josef Stalin's only daughter, Svetlana Alliluyeva, is somewhat of a cheesehead. She's been living in the Madison area for about 20 years. And a new documentary about one woman's attempt to track her down and ask her some questions is finally getting released in the United States.

"Svetlana about Svetlana," by Lana Parshina, debuted at the Cannes Film Festival in 2008.

According to the BBC, Svetlana is Stalin's daughter by his second wife, Nadezhda Alliluyeva, who committed suicide in 1932 when the child was 9 years old. Svetlana married three times and was divorced three times in Russia before her April 1967 defection to the United States.

After publishing two memoirs, and marrying and divorcing the architect William Peters, she changed her name to Lana Peters, returned to live in Russia briefly in 1984, and eventually returned to the U.S. to settle in the Madison area.

Parshina read Svetlana Alliluyeva's "20 Letters To A Friend" when she was 10 years old, and the movie documents her efforts to find Peters, and interview her, where she living in a retirement community.
