This isn't he way organizers of Sunday's Cinco de Mayo festival on Lake Sreet in Minneapolis wanted their annual event remembered: Two teenagers wounded in what appears to be a gang-related shooting.

"We are trying to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Mother's Day," Jesus De La Torre, a father of five selling flowers at the event, told the Star Tribune. "Why does a 17-year-old have to get shot?"

De La Torre and others who saw the shooting said it started just after 2:30 p.m. near the intersection with Portland Avenue -- and a couple of thousand innocent bystanders just trying to enjoy the day.

The two 17 year olds were taken to Hennepin County Medical Center. Their conditions are not known. No arrests have been made yet.

The party on Lake Street, meanwhile, continued until nightfall.
