Coco's bringing serious funny for a funny senator
It's another sign that once oh-so-serious Sen. Al Franken is lightening up: Conan O'Brien has been booked for an invitation-only Franken fundraiser on May 17 at the Mount Curve Avenue home of Gloria Finley and Robert Levine.

The following night, O'Brien's due on stage at The Orpeum Theater in Minneapolis, part of his Legally Prohibited from Being Funny on Television tour.

Kicked to the curb in January by NBC and Jay Leno, O'Brien lost his "Tonight Show" dream job and is getting ready for a new gig with TBS. As we told you, his longtime band leader, Max Weinberg, won't be making the move with him.

Both Franken and O'Brien are Saturday Night Live alumni. And the fundraiser marks the third time recently that Franken has gone to the SNL well to drum up cash.

Former SNLer Dan Aykroyd hosted an April 30 fundraiser for Franken in Los Angeles. And current show mainstay Seth Myers appeared at fundraiser in March at Franken's downtown Minneapolis home.
