John Gunyou picked as Margaret Anderson Kelliher's running mate
It's official: Former Minnesota finance commissioner John Gunyou will be named DFL-endorsed Margaret Anderson Kelliher's gubernatorial running mate this afternoon, according to reports.
Kelliher hopes Gunyou will appeal to the middle.
Gunyou served as finance commissioner during the Gov. Arne Carlson administration. He's currently the city manager of Minnetonka.
Insiders are already praising Kelliher's pick as one that will appeal to moderate voters. Kelliher was instrumental in the partisan showdown at the Capitol that ended earlier this week, so Gunyou could earn her votes from a more mainstream Minnesota voter come Primary day.
Kelliher is expected to make the official announcement at a 1 p.m. Capitol press conference.
Meanwhile, Matt Entenza, one of Kelliher's DFL opponents, has promised to reveal his running mate choice by the end of the month via his twitter page.
She and Entenza ran second and third respectively behind Mark Dayton in a recent poll of likely Democratic voters.
