John Harrington, retiring St. Paul police chief, may run for MN Senate
John Harrington said today he may run to replace retiring state Senator Mee Moua, who made the surprise announcement on Sunday that she would not seek a third term.

Harrington is ending his one-term stint as St. Paul police chief June 30.
He announced a while back that he would not stay on as top cop, and his replacement has already been chosen: Assistant Police Chief Thomas Smith.
Harrington was a finalist for the top cop job in New Orleans, but the city chose someone else. Now it looks like Harrington is seeking his next big challenge.

"I'm considering it," Harrington said this morning, saying he hopes to make a decision in a matter of days. "I'm hoping to talk to a couple more people ... including Senator Moua."
Moua represents the 67th Senate District of Minnesota, the highest elected office held by a Hmong-American.
