Planned Parenthood announces new St. Paul HQ
Planned Parenthood's Highland Park clinic in St. Paul, the frequent scene of anti-abortion protests -- and, more recently, counter-protests favoring reproductive rights -- is closing up shop.
But the services it offers aren't going away. Instead, the women's reproductive health organization is moving across St. Paul to a brand new $16 million, 46,000 square foot, three story headquarters at Charles and Vandalia streets in December 2011.
"This is an exciting new chapter in our 82 year history, and it's made possible entirely by the generosity of our many donors and supporters," said Planned Parenthood Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota president, Sarah Stoesz, in a statement.
Ninety-five percent of the construction cost for the new HQ has already been raised.
The Highland clinic will remain open until the new facility is open.
Planned Parenthood will offer its full range of primary and preventative reproductive health services, as well as abortions, at the new headquarters, which it describes as a "comfortable and secure environment."
