Best Mountain Lion QB ever
There's a weird Vikings reunion going on west of the Sierra Nevada: Quarterback Daunte Culpepper has just signed a deal to play football under the eye of coach Dennis Green -- for the Sacramento Mountain Lions, a UFL franchise.

The first time time those two paired up it was 1999. After being named starter in 2000, Epic connections with Randy Moss followed, along with delusions of Jedi grandeur, a blown out knee, the infamous Vikings boat sex party and then tours through Miami, Oakland and Detroit and now ... Sacramento.

(Green found his way there through a short gig with ESPN, another coaching stint in Arizona, then an offer from the UFL's California Redwoods. The Redwoods moved to Sacramento this year and re-christened themselves the Mountain Lions.)

Joe Eskenazi at the SF Weekly summed up Culpepper's big contract this way:

This the equivalent of Bad Company joining back up with its former manager for the Sawdust Daze Festival in Oshkosh, Wisc.

Or a retirement community in Gold Rush country.

He once told Sports Illustrated, "I want to be the best ever."

When he signed with Sacramento, he said, "My goal for this year was to get on the field and play football."
