Deer ticks: Remember what they look like
Today's the last day of school for kids in Minneapolis this year. Time to get outside, take a dip in the lake, a walk in the woods, and -- oh, yeah -- worry about Lyme disease.

According to the Minnesota Lyme Action Support Group, our state ranks eighth in the nation for reported cases of the awful infliction spread by deer ticks, which can rob its victims of their basic human functions and make life a misery.

In 2008, 1,282 cases of Lyme disease were reported to the Minnesota Department of Health. But actual cases may be much higher. Activists say it may be underreported by a factor of 10.
