Thomas Joseph Neeland arrested in Andrew Battees' murder

Minneapolis police say a suspect has been arrested in the murder of 16-year-old Andrew Battees. Thomas Joseph Neeland, 26, is currently in custody at the Hennepin County Jail on a charge of probable cause murder.

Minneapolis cops found Battees early in the morning of June 13 laying in the front yard of a home on the 2600 block of 18th Avenue South, with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to HCMC where he later died.

New Brighton police made the arrest at about 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Battees was the 24th homicide victim in Minneapolis this year. More on each of those murders here:
