• I find it funny when simple spelling and grammar mistakes are pointed out to those who make them, that they attempt to say that literacy is no big deal. Somehow their talking points are more important than knowing how to spell what they are fighting against. It�s alright to be ignorant and not now how to spell things like socialism, working, informed or redistribution - but it�s wrong to want America and its people to be better off, have health care and not be ripped off by Wall Street and big companies. Recently they are trying to say that there are not racists amongst their rank and file, yet the head of the Tea Party Express is thrown out for that very reason. They complain about their taxes but yet in 2010 those same people paid less in taxes for the year since the 1950�s because of the Obama administration.

But I love schools which seem to get their budgets slashed 1st on years of less tax revenue. I love roads and bridges except when they have potholes that don't get fixed because the city had to lay off workers or bridges colapse because the state doesn't have funds to fix it when a crack was found years before. The Tea Partier needs to think about how they would commute 40 minutes to work if they and everybody didn't pay any taxes. The candiates they support will never make sure money is spent wisely. More so, the candiates will continue the funneling of tax payers money to a dozen or so companies that they themselves own stock. Then kill an unemployment extension for months, rattle their sabres by saying they are doing a good service to the country by saving money. Which would be the same as saving a penny out of a twenty.

• To Proud Vet GDP stands for Gross Domestic Product which is the overall economic output of a country as a whole. It is the market value of all final goods and services officially made within the borders of a country in a year. In the US in 2009 it was $14.2 trillion. It is not the amount the government spends or recieves. I was talking about the US budget which is only $1.9 trillion. The Pentagon was allocated $651 billion in 2009. That doesn't account for both wars because they are paid by emergency allocations that is not figured into the $651 billion and other things are thown into other bills not related to the DOD. Estimates put the grand total for military spending for 2009 was between $859 billion to $1.16 trillion depending on interpretation of what is considered military spending. I didn't write that comment with the desire to shut down the military. The government wastes money like crazy. Wouldn't it make sense that the department that gets the most (The DOD) money would waste the most money. Like over-paying millions for aircraft that they don't receive but being too cheap to buy soldiers flac jackets. I respect that you served and thank you. I don't respect your opinion. If you want to call out someone, know what you're talking about.

So yes, while we do spend more money on our military monetarily than any other country, we are spending a SMALL percentage of our GDP on the upkeep of our military. But hey, you know, when you decide to go out and put your life on the line for millions of people you don't know, why don't you go and do it for free? Lord knows we can't have that kind of expenditure laid on our already over-taxed economy!

• The funniest thing about the Tea Party complaining about fiscal responsibity is that they complain about these "socailist" programs that actually account for a very small portion of the budget. Military spending accounts for more than half (closer to 60%) of our 1.9 trillion (that's $1,900,000,000,000) WITHOUT adding in the cost for both wars. More than the rest of the world combined. Cut some fat from that. But no, the military is untouchable. They protect us from crazies. Some how Iraqis and Afghans have been able to kill thousands of our brothers and sisters with IED's that cost less than $100 to make where as Lockhead Martin charges 1.5 million dollars for a bomb that doesn't explode a whole building. You want to find people wasting your money, look no farther than the Pentagon. Social programs at least help people. Bombs can only kill.

• Recently there was a story on HLN about the Tea Party vs the NAACP. What I saw disgusted me. The most memorable sight was of a 60-something woman holding a big stuffed animal monkey with a sign that said 'get rid of oBUMa at any cost'. Then there the witch doctor photos and the signs that very young children, who I'm sure had no idea why they were there, were carrying. It reminded me of the Phelps Westboro Baptist Church who protest any gay person who dares to be happy or make their lives public. And even more disappointing is that nobody gave a shit about the horrible things they said and graphic anti-gay signs they held until they got involved in protesting military funerals (troops are sacred cows, gay men who died of AIDS evidently weren't worth a mention on any mainstream website or paper). I do try to remind myself this is a small extreme group that, because of how obnoxious they are, have received a lot of press. But don't kid yourselves...whether it's the Tea Party, these Assemblies of God crazies, etc., I constantly hear 'the younger generations are much more open minded!' - bullishlt. Kids are more homophobic and narrow minded than fifty years ago. They're being home schooled with very far right agendas. They only see media that agrees with what their parents think. Fewer gay kids are coming out because they go online, see 'what's waiting for them' after coming out and decide they're never going to be a part of it. We have a long ways to go. Its a given that these Tea Party people have these stupid signs, but lets hope they're not very good at organizing because if they are, their whole gloom and doom platform is drawing people I would NEVER expect would fall for it.
