Michele Bachmann vs. "Joe The Plumber" smackdown
Michele Bachmann recently crowned herself the queen of the Tea Party Caucus in Congress, with ready-for-Fox News sound bites about saving the U.S. from socialist hell. But according to a bunch of Missouri teabaggers, along with Joe "The Plumber" Wurzelbacher, Bachmann's part of the problem.![]()
Her apostasy: Campaigning for Rep. Roy Blunt Jr., a Republican running for the Senate.
For Michele Bachmann to come to Missouri and give the impression that all the Missouri Tea Parties support Roy Blunt is an abomination of everything we have been standing up for.
Her tormentors are instead backing more-than-a-long-shot state Sen. Chuck Purgason in the GOP primary, and Wurzelbacher helped push out a state-wide TV ad in his support.
Self-appointed patriots in Missouri, meantime, are howling into the wind. Blunt leads Purgason in the primary by 62 percent to 13 percent, in the latest St. Louis Post-Dispatch poll.
At least Bachmann's backing a winner.
Here's the Wurzelbacher ad:
