Charles Kentrell Jones gunned down in North Minneapolis

Seventeen-year-old Charles Kentrell Jones was out of juvenile detention just a month when he was shot to death Saturday night. Fourth Precinct officers found his body at about 10:15 p.m. when they responded to a 911 call about shots fired in the alley behind 3347 Dupont Avenue North, MPD spokesman Sgt. Bill Palmer said.

When mourners gathered at his house the next day, a shot rang out from a passing car, according to the Strib. His death is the 33rd homicide in Minneapolis this year.

The Minneapolis Police Homicide Unit is on the case. The circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown right now. There have been no arrests. Anyone with informationis asked to call the TIPS line at 612-692-TIPS (8477).
