Mac Hammond's church denies foreclosure issues
Mac Hammond's Living Word Church in Brooklyn Park is not in foreclosure trouble, a spokeswoman tells City Pages.![]()
Mac and Lynne Hammond's church is not in foreclosure trouble, a spokeswoman says.
That's despite a Hennepin County Sheriff's website posting that shows the church held the mortgage on property that was sold to TCF Bank for $5.1 million in July. (See the screen shot below.)
But according to Amy Rotenberg, that posting is misleading.
"Living word has had no interest or liability in that property since 2006," Rotenberg said. "The church is not going into foreclosure."
Here's a screen shot of the page:
Rotenberg provided a copy of a mortgage foreclosure sale document backing up her claim. It shows the mortgage was assumed by Minnesota-based HMW-Brooklyn LLC in 2006. HMW held the property when TCF Bank bought it in July during the sheriff's sale, according to the document.
It's true, she said, that the church faces a challenging financial picture, but its property is not in foreclosure.
