Bill Clinton raking in campaign cash for Mark Dayton

Clinton parachutes in tonight to help Dayton raise campaign cash.
Mark Dayton has written himself some pretty big checks during his campaign for the governor's office, so he's probably pretty happy to have former President Bill Clinton in town tonight to help raise some cash from other people's bank accounts.

The private fund-raiser is at the Graves 601 in downtown Minneapolis. Anyone who wants in for the cocktails and reception is being asked to shell out $1,000 per person, with an upward limit of $10,000 that can be split between Dayton and the DFL.

It's part of a Clinton parachute tour to shore up Democratic candidates in key races around the country. Before Minneapolis, he put in stops in Columbus and Cleveland to campaign for Democrat Ted Strickland's re-election bid for governor.

Vice President Joe Biden plans to campaign for Dayton in October 5.

Dayton opponent Republican Tom Emmer got an assist from out of state yesterday when Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal ventured up north for a $500-a-ticket campaign appearance at the Hilton Hotel downtown that was also off limits to the press.
