Police say he was shot in broad daylight, possibly from a passing car, as neighbors went about their business near the corner of North 30th Avenue and North Colfax Avenue. There have been no arrests.
It's the first homicide in the city in a month, and it came the day after Mayor R.T. Rybak presided over a MetLife Foundation award ceremony just a few blocks away, praising the strides made by Eco Village in the Hawthorne neighborhood for its strides helping to create new homes and safer streets.
