Bill Clinton schedules Michele Bachmann smackdown

The former president will be at the Teamsters Local 120 Hall in Blaine Sunday evening for a Vikings-Packers tailgate party with Bachman's challenger, DFLer Tarryl Clark.

His visit comes the day after President Barack Obama's big rally for Mark Dayton at the University of Minnesota.

We're surprised Bachmann's so sour on Bubba. She harps on about the climbing federal deficit, and Clinton was the last modern president to leave the White House with the government running a surplus. But in Bachmann's world, Democrats are gangsters. And in Clinton's world, Bachmann is just plain stupid:

"If you have an ideology, it means everything is determined by dogma and you're impervious to evidence. Evidence is irrelevant. That's how I see Rep. Bachmann. She's very attractive in saying all these things she says, but it's pretty stupid."

Will Bubba will talk some smack in Blaine? If he does, you can bet she'll turn it into another fundraising opportunity. The last time he called her stupid, the only thing capable of easing the pain was cold, hard cash.

Either way, note to the tailgate planners: No brats and burgers. Clinton's a vegetarian these days.
