Jimmy John's union vote enters final countdown
Things have been developing quickly since we told you about the unionizing drive by workers at Minneapolis Jimmy John's restaurants.![]()
Sandwich workers vote on the union Oct. 22.
The National Labor Relations Board has set a date for the election: Oct. 22. That gives the union supporters and the owners a scant three weeks to convince a majority of employees at the ten locations to vote the union up or down.
Franchise owners Mike and Rob Mulligan are working with the Labor Relations Institute, an anti-union consulting group, which has started meeting with the restaurant workers to convince them that voting to form a union is a bad idea.
Organizers are crying foul, saying some of the Mulligan's anti-union efforts are illegal, and accusing them of unspecified worker intimidation and retaliation.
