No charges filed in sexual assault at Delta Kappa Epsilon

Cops close the book on DKE sexual assault.

Minneapolis police will not file charges in a sexual assault that occurred at Delta Kappa Epsilon on the U of M's fraternity row. It's been over a month since a 20-year-old woman was trapped in a bathroom by a man who tried to rape her.

It was the first reported incident in what became a string of three sexual assaults in two weeks at U of M frats.

Police concluded there was "not enough information" to pursue a case against the man involved at the DKE house. Two fraternity members were robbed the same night in the house. Although the University admitted they'd had problems with DKE in the past, police said the perpetrators were not frat members.

Two of the three investigations are now closed. Cops shut the books on an incident at Chi Psi Lodge earlier this month for lack of evidence.

The third incident at Phi Gamma Delta is still an open investigation.

There have been some consequences, though.

Delta Kappa Epsilon has been suspended for four years. Chi Psi has taken on a "house dad" to boost their public image. And all campus frats are still -- boo hoo -- forbidden from having alcohol at their parties.
