Troy Gentry is a big shot country music star, half of the Montgomery Gentry act. But new video on YouTube shows that when it comes to bear hunting, he's a legend in his own mind.

In case you missed it, Gentry used a bow and arrow to shoot and kill a tame, captive bear named Cubby at the Minnesota Wildlife Connection preserve near Sandstone in October 2004. Video produced from the "hunt" made it look like he was bad ass.

But Gentry got caught in a lie. He pleaded guilty to falsely registering the bear as having been shot in the wild, paid a $15,000 fine, and had his bow and stuffed bear confiscated.

Turns out Cubby was targeted after he developed dental problems. Owner Lee Marvin Greenly staged the mock hunt so Gentry could kill the animal.

Outraged at what it called a light punishment, an advocacy group called Showing Animals Respect and Kindness got hold of photos and video that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service used to investigate the case. And now it's posted videos of Gentry on YouTube.

About three minutes into Part 1 of the video, below, Gentry and his host talk on camera about the big hunt they have planned, down in a swamp where they've seen bear activity and plan to move some bait. Yessir, "that's why they call it huntin', Gentry says.

The "swamp" is on a 3-acre enclosure.

Behold the mighty hunter:
