100-year-old Wal-Mart greeter Lois Speelman shoved to the ground

Attention Wal-Mart shoppers, there's a Scrooge in your midst.
The post-Thanksgiving retail orgy always produces at least one shameful story of human idiocy. Our winner comes from -- where else? -- Wisconsin, where some Scrooge put a damper on 100-year-old Lois Speelman's holiday cheer, shoving the Wal-Mart greeter to the ground.

There's nothing like filling your shopping cart and putting the beat down on granny to celebrate the season.

Like a lot of holiday workers, Speelman was on duty Sunday to check and make sure that holiday shoppers had paid for everything in their carts before they headed for the door. When Speelman approached one shopper, she was knocked down.

It should be said that Speelman loves Wal-Mart and needs her job. She hired on at a Milwaukee outlet when she was 90 years old. She celebrated her 100th birthday in the store over the summer. Her co-workers mow her lawn and shovel her sidewalk. And she doesn't want to talk with reporters because she's afraid she'll lose her position.

And she'll be back at work later this week, a little worse for the wear and tear but ready to greet Wal-Mart shoppers.

The company, meantime, is likely to pursue aggravated battery charges against the unnamed 37-year-old classless jerk who injured Speelman.
