Keith Ellison rolls to re-election

• The key to getting Ellison out of office is to defeat him in the primaries. He could fly a plane into the LDS tower and would still get re-elected because he is a democrat running in a heavily democratic district. Ellison�s' faith is certainly an important issue. He took his oath of office - to uphold the Constitution - on a Koran. This is a conflict of interest. To be true to one of these documents is to violate the other. The first amendment guarantees the freedom of religion. In Islam, apostasy is punished by death, and Christians, Jews, and other non-Muslims are subject to second class dhimmi status. The eighth amendment protects citizens from cruel and unusual punishments. In Islam, several crimes are punished by amputation and lapidation. There is no comparison between Ellison's Islamic faith and Kennedy's Catholicism. There were Catholics flying planes into skyscrapers, there were no articles of Catholicism mandating that Catholics slay the infidels wherever they find them. I do not know what the extent of Ellison�s knowledge of and devotion to Islam is. I suspect his conversion was prompted by a deliberate and racist rejection of what he perceived of Christianity being the �white man�s� religion. The irony is that Muslims caused far more devastation to Africa than did Christian Europeans. It is estimated that as many as 120 million Africans died during the 1,000 year Islamic slave trade. This number does not include the 28 million African slaves of the Muslims. The death toll just from bringing slaves from their homeland to their area of captivity was about 80%. Contrast that to the 12 million slaves brought from Africa to the Americas (at the most 450,000 of which ended up in what would become the United States), for which the in transit death toll was around 10%.

• What does Sharia law has to do with Ellison's election? Would his vote of 1 be enough to change the constitution? There were people who were afraid of Kennedy's Catholic faith. In spite of being a President he did not impose Pope's law on the rest of us, many claims he would. He didn't want to but even if he wanted to -- could he?

• Ellison's faith is not a problem per se. The problem is that muslims carry the baggage of sharia law. Sharia should be banned in the US because it is counter to the US Constitution and many of our laws. An example would be the right of a man to beat his wife with proper cause. Today Americans recognize no such right.
