Michele Bachmann declares victory

Will Minnesota forever be stuck with Bachmann? Probably.
It wasn't even close. Republican incumbent Michele Bachmann steamrolled her Democratic challenger, Tarryl Clark, to win a third term in Minnesota's 6th Congressional District by a 53-40 percent margin.

"This is an unbelievably humbling moment," announced Bachmann around 10:25 p.m., shortly after the AP declared her the winner. "This has been a very long effort and I want to thank you. I want to thank you for everything you have done. I want to thank you for believing in the founding principles of this country...You saw through the attacks and you stood by me...I want to thank all of you who supported me with prayer."

Cue the "USA!" chant.

Bachmann went on to promise to "take back" America.

For Clark's part, she has been a formidable opponent to Bachmann. Over the past few months, her fight for the largely conservative district earned her national headlines, some big-name endorsements, and millions in campaign contributions. Clark even tried to get the attention of voters by littering some profanity into her ads, though perhaps that's a strategy for a different district.
