Would the Vikings turn California purple?
The owners of the Minnesota Vikings really, really want you to finance them a new stadium. And the specter of the team relocating to a city more amenable to upgraded real estate has long been part of its MO for wrangling a new, taxpayer-funded stadium out of its more rabid fans.

So surprise surprise, with a new Legislature about to take its seat in St. Paul, we hear tell that at least two Los Angeles-area entities have approached the team.

Lester Bagley, the Vikings VP for public affairs, floated the story today to the Star Tribune.

We have been approached by two different groups in Los Angeles - the Ed Roski group and more recently by former Timberwolves CEO Tim Leiweke and AEG.

No pressure, though.

It's no secret that we're down to the last year on our lease. We've told those groups that we are focused on resolving the issue in Minnesota.

Said resolution includes potential stadium sites in Minneapolis, and one in the suburbs, he said.

Will the new Republican-led Legislature -- the one that rode to power on a no-new-taxes platform -- play ball? Incoming House Speaker Kurt Zellers has said its hardly a sure bet.
