Snow emergencies declared in Minneapolis and St. Paul [UPDATES]

More snow. Oh boy.

Where in the heck are we going to put more snow?

Minneapolis and St. Paul have declared snow emergencies again, as a fresh storm dumped a load all rush-hour misery all over the Twin Cities for the second time in just barely more than a week.

Here's what you need to know:

In Minneapolis:

Starting at 9 p.m. today, Snow Emergency parking rules begin.

Park on either side of non-Snow Emergency routes (these streets DO NOT have the red sign: Snow Emergency Route). Do not park on either side of the street with the red sign: Snow Emergency Route. Snow plows will clear those streets first.

After a street is fully plowed to the curb, feel free to park there, even if Snow Emergency parking rules are still in effect. Fully plowed means the street is completely cleared and plowed to the curb. Plows may come through more than once, so make sure that it is fully plowed to the curb before parking.

Remember: These are temporary restrictions. After Day 3, we'll be going back to the winter-long parking restrictions.

In St. Paul:

Starting at 9 p.m., all NIGHT PLOW ROUTES will be plowed. Included are all arterial or main streets posted with signs that say "NIGHT PLOW ROUTE" and one side of all north-south residential streets posted with signs that say "NIGHT PLOW ROUTE-THIS SIDE OF STREET".

On Tuesday, December 21, 2010 beginning at 8:00 A.M. all DAY PLOW ROUTES will be plowed. Included are all non-posted east-west residential streets and the non-posted side of north-south residential streets.

Parking is banned until streets are plowed full width to the curb. There will be tagging and towing ahead of the plows starting immediately at 9:00 P.M. and continuing throughout the Snow Emergency. For more information visit our website at www.stpaul.gov/snow

Update: National Weather Service radar as of 3:20 p.m. shows the storm over the Twin Cities. Forecasters predict about 3-5 inches of snow tonight and another couple of inches tomorrow.
