Keith Ellison launches Twitter campaign for ElBaradei's release

Minneapolis Congressman Keith Ellison has taken to Twitter to denounce the government of Egypt as it tries violently to quash an uprising seeking the end of President Hosni Mubarak's 30-year rule.

Urging them on: Mohamed ElBaradei, the former head of the United Nations nuclear agency and 2005 Egyptian Nobel Peace Prize winner.

Mubarak has ordered ElBaradei to be put under house arrest. Ellison wants the peace activist released:

"Egypt today is one big prison," ElBaradei told the Guardian in London. "If the west is not going to speak out now, then when?"

He arrived in Egypt on Thursday, and was placed on house arrest after attending Friday prayers.
