Over-reaction from Obama's protectors, or should Volkmann know better than to threaten the president?
The latter, says commenter "xmith."
The Secret Service automatically investigates every threat made against the President. They did due diligence, made sure it wasn't a serious threat, and case closed. I think if people can just keep from threatening the President, it will save everybody a lot of time.
"Someone's got to knock some sense into that idiot," Volkmann said of the president in a post-fight interview. And he was shocked when the agent showed up at his home.
The interview "took maybe two minutes. He said he was embarrassed to even come out here," Volkmann said later.
We note that the Volkmann story came out before Saturday's massacre in Tucson. Would the Secret Service have viewed Volkmann's comments differently if they had come after the shooting? Tell us what you think in the comments.
