Tim Pawlenty eighth in new GOP presidential poll
Tim Pawlenty spent a week-long media blitz in support of his new book and presidential ambitions, chatting up everyone from Jon Stewart to Bryan Fischer.![]()
Pawlenty appeared on "The Daily Show" last week.
But it's hard to get the attention of the Republican base when you're facing off against a preacher with a cable show, and media troll yammering on about "blood libel." Pawlenty's eighth in the latest ABC News/Washington Post poll of possible GOP presidential candidates.
Mike Huckabee and Sarah Palin still lead the crowd, with 21 percent and 19 percent support respectively. Pawlenty polled a meager 2 percent.
It's a familiar spot of late for our former governor. Yet he seems pretty intent on playing nice with the the leaders of the pack. T-Paw told fans at a Woodbury Christian bookstore that, "I'm not trying to out-preach my friend Mike Huckabee." And he's spent a lot of time dancing around Palin's ego. Maybe it's time to take the gloves off.
Here's how he stacks up in the ABC News/Washington Post poll:
- Mike Huckabee: 21%
- Sarah Palin: 19%
- Mitt Romney: 17%
- Newt Gingrich: 9%
- Chris Christie: 8%
- Rick Perry: 3%
- Mitch Daniels: 2%
- Tim Pawlenty: 2%
- Mike Pence: 2%
- Haley Barbour: 1%
- Jim DeMint: 1%
- Jon Huntsman: 1%
- Rick Santorum: 1%
