Nyron Sheldon Hackett faces trial as an adult in Powderhorn Park sex assault case

Nyron Sheldon Hackett will face the music as an adult.

Sixteen-year-old Nyron Sheldon Hackett is accused of using a gun while leading a robbery and sexual assault on a woman in Powderhorn Park last Thanksgiving Eve -- as the woman's children watched in horror.

From there, police say he and his gang of teenage thugs tried to trap two girls in a nearby garage and rape them.

Now Hackett's learned he's going to be tried as an adult. He faces 11 felony counts: Five of aggravated robbery, four of criminal sexual conduct, and two of kidnapping.

The mother who was sexually assaulted fought her attackers off before they could turn on her 10-year-old and 13-year-old children. When police came, they followed footprints to a nearby garage where they found the two trapped girls, and arrested Hackett and two 14-year-old boys.

"The mom in the news" later took to e-democracy.org's Powderhorn Park message boards to express thanks for community support, praise police and sound a tone of defiance.

None of us were raped, to the best of my knowledge. Yes, I was sexually assaulted but the girls did manage to fight off the boys and escape before anything happened. I really have a huge repulsion at the labeling of us as victims. I see us as strong and capable of taking charge of our safety.

Another teenager was arrested later. MaCarr Tyree Hill got his name splashed in the headlines before his lawyer argued that he was 15, not 16 years old. He was charged with aggravated robbery and allowed to live with his grandmother with a monitoring device strapped to his ankle. He cut the device off and went missing for a few days in November before surrendering to police.

You're a moron. There is no such word as 'spicable,' and no one can be coerced into doing something he's morally opposed to. You either have it in you to sexually assault a woman, or you don't. The sympathy should NEVER fall to the offender.

I know this boy ... He is the type of kid to do what others pushed him to do .. To bad for him that a gang of so called friends pushed him to do this spicable crime... He always wanted to be accepted and would do anything to feel cool or accepted by his peers ... And his adopted parents are to blame partly they would deprive him of so many things and beat him ... He would be locked in the house for days but eventually escape.. But to return and beaten again ...he was just calling out for help but ended up doing so in the wrong way ... And what do u mean send him back to his homeland? He is in his homeland !! Just because hes black ?! Well lets say your white and send you back to YOUR HOMELAND !! europe maybe or france you all invade here first !!

This guy should be let lose in the public with a sign attached to his skin detailing his crimes. he wouldn't last too long... send him back to his homeland...
